Other Important Reference and Help Materials

When working on Microsoft Exchange Server development I have found the following alternative sources of information very helpful:

1. Documentation on Microsoft Platform SDK. Currently it is on disk 5 of Microsoft Developer Network (Development Platform - US). Two very important books are a must-see:
1.1 Microsoft Exchange Server Programmer's Reference. (In printed form only the Guide it is more than 300 pages letter-size).
1.2 Gateway Programmer's Reference (more than 100 pages).
These two sources obviously are closely related and refer to each other.
2. Code samples on Platform SDK. This is simply invaluable source. Without samples development for Exchange and MAPI perhaps does not make much sense - you'll spend way too much time trying to make trivial things work. Here is where they are:
Mssdk/samples/exchange - samples related to MS Exchange server
Mssdk/samples/mapi - samples related to MAPI in general
Mssdk/bin/samplegw - sample gateway installation files
3. "Inside MAPI" book by Irving De la Cruz and Les Thaler.
4. Subscribe to MAPI mailing list. To do this send mail to LISTSERV@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM with body "subscribe MAPI-L your name".
5. Potentially subscribe to MS Exchange server mailing list. Although this one seems to be more about administering Exchange servers, perhaps it will be more developer oriented when you decide to subscribe. Here is how: Send mail to msexchange-request@insite.co.uk. In the body of the mail, write
SUBSCRIBE . (no punctuation). The automated system will send a confirmation request back to you, which you need to respond to.
